Abstract
This paper is a report on an attitudinal study coincident with the redesign of the interior of Chicago-Read Mental Health Center. Patients and staff were given questionnaires on 30 aspects of the interior environment before the redesign to determine design needs and then after the redesign was accomplished they were again given the same questionnaire. Significant differences were found between the way staff views the interior environment and the way patients view the same interior environment.
