Abstract
Designing a CRT-type computer terminal within a short period of time is a significant challenge to engineers, the marketing staff, and the human factors specialists. During the entire design phase of a new CRT terminal,1 human factors requirements were generated using a number of techniques including empirical studies, evaluations, and application of basic human factors data and techniques. This paper (1) describes in detail how the human factors requirements were determined and (2) illustrates how human factors can have total involvement in a product, from initial conceptualization to hardware testing.
