Abstract
This study focuses on the application of generative artificial intelligence (AI) to develop new tools and technologies for older adults with dementia. Based on a narrative review, we propose a conceptual framework to support non-pharmacological interventions such as reminiscence therapy, music therapy, and cognitive stimulation. In the framework, AI-generated content is categorized into six modalities: text, images, audio, video, 3D models, and multimodality. Next, each modality is mapped to improve or maintain cognitive function, physical health, and social and emotional well-being for older adults with dementia. This framework outlines new perspectives for adopting generative AI technology and provides a foundation for developing AI-enabled interventions and future research.
