Abstract
Approximately 20% of Americans are unpaid caregivers to someone with special needs. Despite the prevalence of caregiving, its importance, and the known negative impacts, caregivers are often still under-resourced and under-supported. To address these challenges, it is important that the ergonomics of care work is well-understood and considered when creating caregiver supports. This panel gathers experts in the study of care work and the design of interventions to support caregivers. They will discuss how they study and characterize care work, and how they apply this understanding to the design of interventions.
