Abstract
The Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) will entail significant changes in roles and responsibilities of participants, more and more sophisticated automation, and requirements for precise flight to enable safe and efficient operations. Human factorsresearch and development related to all aspects of human-system integration (HSI) comprise key componentsfor the success of this initiative. A HSI Roadmap based on operational improvements and requirements for NextGen was developed to facilitate research and workforce support activities and capabilities. The intent of this forum is to discuss the most importantNextGen HSI issues and the progress made on the HSI Roadmap. Additionally, representatives from the principal stakeholder groups will offer their perspectives on the complexities and challenges for NextGen operations.
