This is a critique of Divale and Harris's (1976) cross-cultural study of
male supremacist theory. Focus of criticism centers upon empirical issues
of methodological procedure, variable construction, and theoretical devel
opment. In it we conclude that the Divale and Harris study has serious
flaws in design and analysis.
