Abstract
The Adult Personality Inventory (API: Krug, 1984) is designed to assess normal-range personality characteristics. The API provides a technology for assessing major dimensions of adult personality and reporting them in terms that are understandable and relevant. API results are reported in terms of three sets of scales: Personal Characteristics, Interpersonal Style, and Career Factors. The third set of scales, Career Factors (Practical, Scientific, Aesthetic, Social, Competitive, Structured), relate to career choice, job satisfaction, and life-style preferences. They were developed empirically by studying response patterns that empirically differentiated people in a broad sampling of occupations. Descriptive information regarding these scales and their relationship to other systems for classifying occupational interests are described.
