Abstract
In the interest of advancing theory and research on the Boulder model of training in psychology and as an aid to career counseling for specialty choice in psychology, Leong and Zachar (1991) developed the Scientist Practitioner Inventory, which measures interests in activities associated with the role of academic-scientist in psychology and activities associated with the role of clinical-practitioner in psychology. The present article reports the refinement of the SPI into two brief versions. Brief Version A (SPI-18) is an 18-item inventory aimed at efficiency in measurement. Brief Version B (SPI-20) is a 20- item inventory aimed at purity of measurement. Factorial structure of both versions are investigated. Evidence for internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and concurrent validity is demonstrated.
