Abstract
A strong and supportive relationship with a father can lead to increased internal self-confidence in daughters. Moreover, a strong sense of internal self-confidence can lead to a greater external self-confidence, as a person who feels secure in themselves is more likely to project confidence and self-assurance in their interactions with others. Furthermore, all these actions can lead to good decision-making characteristics in daughters. Therefore, the current study aimed to explore the relationship of father-daughter relationship, internal selfconfidence, external self-confidence, and decision making in university's female students. The data was collected from 200 female university students between the age range of 18–24 using purposive sampling technique and 3 different assessment measure i-e (i) Inventory of Parents and Peer Attachment-Father version (ii) Self-Confidence Scale and (iii) General Decision-Making Scale. Serial Mediation Analysis was conducted using Hayes PROCESS version 4.1 model 6. The findings of the study has shown that a positive father-daughter relationship can significantly boost a daughter's internal self-confidence, which in turn leads to an increase in external self-confidence. This increase in external self-confidence can improve decision-making abilities. Additionally, Internal, and external self-confidence mediates the relationship of father-daughter relationship and good decision-making. A positive healthy bond of a daughter with father inculcates confidence and increase the esteem of the daughters. In a collectivistic cultures, like Pakistan, male child is of prime importance and get a lot of attention of the parents. The results revealed the need of strong relationship between father and daughter.
