Abstract
Tears were free flowing when we watched the critically acclaimed series “This Is Us”. The majority of people are immediately struck by the complex and nuanced portrayal of adoption through the character of Randall Pearson. His journey as a transracial adoptee navigating the complexities of family, identity, and race resonates deeply, inviting viewers to confront the multifaceted nature of the adoption experience. Through a close analysis of key episodes and character arcs, we hope to contribute to a more empathetic and deeper understanding of adoption in all its complexity.
