Abstract
This paper examines and evaluates success factors to develop strategies for implementing concurrent engineering (CE) in Hong Kong electronics and plastic products industries. The success factors, benefits, and costs of CE implementation are considered, and a model based on the AHP methodology is formulated to assess their relative priorities. The results from the electronics and plastic products industries are compared. The data from both industries are pooled and the relative importance of success factors for the combined indus tries is determined. The same model is also used to determine the benefit/cost ratios and to decide whether or not to implement CE in these selected Hong Kong manufacturing industries.
