Abstract
The paper describes an approach to avoiding interference conflicts in the layout of pipes, wires, ducts, and other building elements in a distributed design process Conflicts are avoided by dedicating spatial zones in the design (CAD) editors that have been programmed with the spatial constraints for their components When the subsystem designs are reintegrated, conflicts are limited to locations where the zones intersect, and solutions can be designed and provided in a library that is indexed by the intersecting zones.
