Abstract
In this article, a new methodology named as vague lambda–tau, is proposed for reliability analysis of repairable systems. In this methodology, the vague set theory is coupled with conventional lambda–tau method to evaluate the vague expressions for OR-transition of the Petri nets model. This article involves the qualitative and quantitative analyses of compressor system. In qualitative analysis, the Petri nets model is obtained from its equivalent fault tree, and in quantitative analysis, the reliability parameters are evaluated using vague lambda–tau methodology. Furthermore, a decision support system based on vague sets is developed to overcome the limitations of traditional risk analysis. Using this approach, system reliability can be analyzed in a more flexible and intelligent manner.
