Abstract
The need for the clinical pharmacist in community practice is equally great or most probably exceeds that of hospital practice. Addressing this need, the Medical University of South Carolina includes as an option in its Doctor of Pharmacy program the opportunity for the student to receive his advanced clinical training as a member of a family practice health care team. At the conclusion of the Pharm.D. students' program in family practice, it is anticipated that he will be capable of establishing himself as an integral member of a health care team in the community setting. This paper describes the Pharm.D. program in advanced clinical pharmacy in the family practice area.
