Dr.
Kerry
Patterson,
an assistant professor of organizational behavior
in the Graduate School of Management at Brigham Young University,
takes an unusual view of organization development (OD) success: He
examines successes in OD acceptance and adoption that became uncon
trollable and led to overall negative consequences. Patterson's basic frame
of reference is an area known by labels such as "D of I" (diffusion of
innovation), "knowledge transfer," and "KD & D" (knowledge dissemi
nation and diffusion). One of the primary international scholars in this
field,
Dr.
Ronald
Havelock,
head of American University's Knowledge
Transfer Institute in Washington, D.C., reacts to Patterson's presentation.
