Abstract
Education is one of the critical factors influencing a nation's future development. This notion is recognized internationally and clearly shown in the United Nation's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Competent school principals are an important factor in the achievement of educational goals and quality educational outcomes. This research, therefore, studies the competencies expected of school principals in Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Schools (BMAS) over the next 10 years (2023–2032). The Ethnographic Delphi Futures Research (Ethnographic Futures Research plus Delphi technique) and Delphi techniques were employed to analyze data obtained from interviews of 50 selected BMA executives, human resource managers, and school principals who are knowledgeable about the work of BMAS. The findings indicate that the following competencies are crucial for school principals in the future: intrapreneurial aptitude, multilingual proficiency, organizational engagement, administrative skills, creativity, and technological fluency. It is recommended that, based on the research findings, ethical leadership should also be explicitly stated as one of the competencies for principals.
