This article argues that women's ambivalence about their work in complex organizations can be understood by recognizing that (a) an effemination of feminism has occurred, (b) "masculine work" requires "masculine work habits," and (c) a work-family mystique has supplanted "the feminine mystique." Implications for feminism's third wave and feminist management research are discussed.
