Abstract
This article examines the intersection between the processes of filmmaking and research. The goal is to explore how documentary filmmakers can contribute to how we do our research on organizations and how organizational researchers can contribute to documentary filmmaking. The article draws from the author’s work as an organizational researcher and the author’s work in producing educational and documentary films about work during the past 12 years. After delineating some similarities and differences between the processes, specific suggestions are presented on how organizational researchers can learn from filmmakers and vice versa.
