Abstract
This case report aimed to clarify the long-term bone formation from the grafting of octacalcium phosphate granules and atelocollagen complex (OCP/Col) into the alveolar cleft until the completion of orthodontic treatment in 2 patients with unilateral CLA. Both patients underwent OCP/Col grafting at age 9 years and 3 months. Clear bone bridging was observed 6 months or 3 years after grafting, and bone formation was further promoted by the edgewise treatment. The results suggested that the osteogenic induction phase can last for several years in some cases, and it is important to understand this characteristic when formulating treatment plans.
