Can Hypernasality be Reliably Rated Using the American English Phrase Sample as a Part of the Cleft Audit Protocol for Speech-Augmented-Americleft Modification (CAPS-A-AM) Protocol?
The American English Phrase Sample is an alternative repetition stimulus that can be used as a part of the Cleft Audit Protocol for Speech-Augmented-Americleft Modification.
Problem
Reliability for rating hypernasality is unknown when the phrase sample is used.
Solution
Assessed intra- and interrater reliability for rating hypernasality.
What we did
Intrarater reliability was k = 0.76–0.91 and interrater reliability was k = 0.63–0.77. The phrase sample had the same reliability for rating hypernasality as the sentence sample.
