Abstract
Adult sibling loss is a slowly growing area of bereavement research interest. The importance of the adult sibling bond is becoming more widely recognized and the consequences of this type of loss are slowly coming to light. The purpose of this article is to present a review of current literature related to adult sibling loss and then to explicate the factors that influence reactions to sibling loss and the consequences, both psychological and somatic, that befall surviving siblings. Support recommendations and avenues for future research will also be addressed.
