Abstract
The churches in areas adjacent to the Gulf Coast played an important role in the relocation and support of many thousands of people forced out of their homes by Hurricane Katrina. This article describes a plan, the Rapid Mobilization Action Plan, that was developed and used by the clergy and parishioners of 40 churches, with the assistance of clergy from as far away as New York and with financial support from across the country. The plan described here was developed and expanded as the situation developed after Hurricane Katrina. Now two of the clergy, who were in the middle of this effort, share their experiences so that others may benefit from them.
