This article examines loss, and the grief that follows a loss, among prison inmates and parolees. It looks at the parallel between the emotions of grief and the reactions of prisoners to incarceration. It also examines coping behaviors and makes suggestions for possible interventions that can be initiated by counselors and others who may wish to offer help.
