Abstract
Recent statistics, including the latest census, demonstrate a rapid increase in the growth of the Hispanic population of the United States. In some cities, they are the largest population group. While it is important to note that Hispanic, as a label, does not wipe out the uniqueness of different countries, their customs and traditions, and those of the families, this article highlights the fear and celebration as death approaches, the role of the family and the extended family, the significance of social and familial ritual, the spiritual implications of faith and loss, and the religious presence throughout.
