Abstract
There are many reasons for violence: economic reasons, overcrowding, mental and emotional illness, or long-term hostilities. This article explores a different perspective—the spiritual roots of violence. Violence occurs within the context of a belief system. The article begins by discussing the uniqueness of the person. The author then discusses the impact of death on the human condition, what constitutes spirituality, and how spiritualities differ. Finally, the author discusses the use of violence by a person in the face of death.
