Rita Yerkes is the sixteenth recipient of the Kurt Hahn Award. The following is her Kurt Hahn address, delivered at the Association for Experiential Education International Conference held November 1998 in Tahoe, Nevada. Prior to the speech, each person in the reception hall was given a bead. The significance of the bead becomes evident at the close of Dr. Yerkes' speech.
