Background and Purpose: Co-editors Garnham and Oprandi offer contemporary perspectives on outdoor education for twenty-first-century teachers and learners in higher education. Method: This book review is placed in the context of previous literature on the same subject, and looks forward to the future of technology and classrooms. The book is divided into five sections that focus on theoretical perspectives, health benefits, tools and techniques, fieldwork, and overcoming educational barriers. Findings: The topics represent a diverse and sophisticated range of teaching techniques, a wide variety of settings and locations, and contributing authors from many academic fields. Implications: By acknowledging that outdoor education does not have to take place in natural settings and focusing on twenty-first-century tools and challenges, this book offers timely perspectives and strategies for experiential educators.
