Reliability,Validity,and Utility of the Evaluation and Programming System: For Infants and Young Children (EPS-I)

Abstract

The Evaluation and Programming System: For Infants and Young Children-Assessment Level I: Devel. opmentally 1 Month to 3 Years (EPS-I) is an assessment/evaluation instrument designed to provide information that can be used to develop IEPs or IFSPs and to gauge program effectiveness. The purpose of this study was to examine selected psychometric properties and usefulness of the EPS-I. Validity, reliability, and utility data were collected on a large sample of nonhandicapped, at-risk, mildly, moderately, and severely handicapped children ranging in age from 2 months to 6 years. Outcomes indicated the EPS-I is a valid and reliable instrument that interventionists report is helpful in developing and executing intervention programs for young handicapped children.
