This paper represents a synthesis of characteristics of effective internship field experiences and programs. The internship serves an important function in the preparation of educational administrators, as it bridges the gap between classroom preparation and professional practice. An effective internship program may be designed in several ways, but it is the conclusion of this paper that the internship should address several general areas.
