Abstract
The importance of enhancing management education with technology use can be addressed in part by incorporating electronic student portfolios into courses and academic programs. By extending the notion of the student portfolio into a Web-based electronic form, opportunities exist to improve technological literacy at the same time that significant contributions are made to stakeholder interests. This article describes our experience with such portfolios, beginning with experimentation in the introductory management course and then extending into a program available to all 1,600 undergraduate students in our college, beginning with their first-year experience. We have found that the portfolios are a practical way to incorporate technology into instruction and advance a variety of additional purposes, including student evaluation, curriculum development, career development, college outcome assessment, and job placement.
