Students often complain that text discussions of culture are bland, lack practical application, and do not provide them with tools to assess the cultural dynamics of the groups in which they work. This article presents an exercise that the authors developed to show their students how they can assess and better understand Bion's principles of culture. It shows how to administer the exercise and how it can offer feedback regarding the culture of their class or the class groups in which they participate.
