Abstract
This article introduces a three-stage role-play that involves a team of engineering managers and their boss in an engineering workstations company that is undergoing downsizing. The three stages occur just after financial losses are reported for the company, 3 weeks after the reported losses, and 4 months after the losses. Issues highlighted include thoughts and feelings experienced by people working for a company that is undergoing financial losses and layoffs, concerns of those laid off and survivors, and managing in a company after downsizing.
