In 1983, the Harvard Business School celebrated the 75th anniversary of its founding. Commemorating the event, 100 applied behavioral scientists from the Business School and the sociology, psychology, anthropology, economics, and political science departments of Harvard University gathered to explore the history of their scholarly community, for which the Business School served as a central gathering place, at a conference entitled “From Initiative to Inheritance: The History of Applied Organization Study at Harvard.”
