Abstract
This article describes the struggle between the philosophies of Hospice and Respiratory Care at Saint James Hospital in Pontiac, Illinois. It presents a case study about an end-stage Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(COPD)patient in the hospice program that catalyzed change. The article shows resolution of the struggles, draws conclusions from the process, and illuminates pertinent issues.
