Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine what it is about nurses that elicits trust in the perception of primary care-givers. Participants (N = 32) responded to a questionnaire, “Patient Trust and Nursing Behaviors,” that identifies a variety of descriptors about trust promoting behaviors of nurses. The behaviors identified can readily be learned by nurses and are believed characteristic of humanistic communication patterns of interaction or skills and attitudes as proposedby Humanistic Nursing Communication Theory.
