Abstract
Our ears ring with the mantra from every corner of society—we need creative people. Our journals, books, and other media constantly speak of this, yet the educational system imposed on us seems to test more and more. Elementary general music educators have a responsibility to teach for the development of creativity within our students. In fact, knowing all the demands placed on classroom teachers, music class may be the best and, potentially, last hope for this to occur. This article provides resources and thought-provoking commentary on our role as general music educators.
