Abstract
Girls who tend to be sidelined in classroom discussions come into their own in simulations, and the personal changes can be profound. The walls of gender can crumble. In addition, simulations can shake the walls of ability and perceived ability. Teachers who have a low opinion of certain students can be pleasantly surprised to discover how able these students can be in a simulation. Simulations deserve to be treated seriously, not relegated to a Friday afternoon once a year
