Abstract
The aim of this study was to initiate exploratory research into what trainers say are their purposes for using training games. Although a number of studies has examined the use of training games, little attention has thus far been given to individual trainer differences with respect to the use of these games. From a pedagogical or group process perspective, barely anything is known about what trainers hope to accomplish by using instructional games. The same can be said for the ways individual trainer characteristics and demographics influence trainers' use of games.
