Assessment center (AC) programs have been in use in Germany since the 1920s and nowadays most of the big European and American firms select academic applicants through AC. The following contains an introduction into A Casa simulation technique and the format ofa compact university seminar that has been offered for 4 years now. Personnel experts from business and industry simulate an AC. Two firms always participate in the seminar that involves students applying to actual advertisements for job vacancies within the firms by sending in their curriculum vitae, among other things. During the course of the seminar, two groups of six are assessed by either Firm A or Firm B (i.e., leaderless group discussions, presentation, etc.) and it has been noted that participants are eager to obtain individual feedback concerning their strengths and weaknesses.
