Abstract
A model or a slice of a model is often the referent underlying a simulation game. CALDER CONNECTIONS is a short simulation game developed to illustrate one element in a model connecting art and culture. CALDER CONNECTIONS helps participants understand the range of impressions, knowledge, and connections they bring to art and any intercultural encounter. In other words, the role of the viewer in art (or in life) is the centerpiece of this game. The author describes the development of the game, how it is played using art postcards, and how the learning from the game can be applied.
