Abstract
The static and dynamic electromechanical behaviour of piezoceramic actuators attached to an elastic medium under inplane mechanical and electrical loads is studied. An electroelastic line model is used to characterize the actuators. The load transfer from the piezoelectric actuators to the host structure is determined by using Fourier transform and solving the resulting integral equations. The work is further extended to account for the interaction between different actuators using a pseudo-incident wave method. The influences of different pertinent coefficients are investigated to show the effect of the geometry of actuators, the material combination and the loading frequency upon the load transfer between the actuators and the host structure.
