Abstract
While historical architectural heritage is a resource and a fundamental part of the cultural European background, it also causes concern, mainly due to the huge investment needed to maintain it or even to repair it after environmental injuries. The final aim of this research is the creation of tools suitable for use in the monitoring of an ancient heritage building. The questions raised cover the whole diagnostic process to be developed in terms of data acquisition, signal processing, numerical modeling, structural identification, optimization of the rehabilitation, intervention design, safety evaluation, and decision-making.
