Abstract
This article is concerned with simultaneous optimal design of adaptive structures comprising structural and control systems. In this study, we apply the fact that the nonconvex problem is approximated by a convex one by adding a semidefinite positive function, the so-called convexifying function, to make the constraint convex. This study proposes a method of simultaneous optimization for state feedback gains and structural parameters. The system formulation is given using the descriptor form representation of the plant under the linear matrix inequality (LMI) constraint. A numerical example of a simple structure is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
