Abstract
This article summarizes today's critical thinking on such major psychoanalytical concepts as the sexual and aggressive drives, the Oedipus complex, the psychic apparatus, and the unconscious. It distinguishes between concepts that have lost validity and those that are of ongoing clinical value.
