Abstract
A life model approach suggests a strategy for treatment of alcoholism that emphasizes the role of the environment in rehabilitation. Examples illustrate how to ameliorate skid row conditions, use progressive forces in the alcoholic, and enhance his competence, all interacting with sobriety.
