Officers have the duty to enforce the law and are accorded certain privileges in carrying out their duties. When an officer exceeds those privileges other officers on the scene have the duty to intervene and restrain the misfeasor officer. This article reviews the duty of officers to intervene and restrain the use of excessive force and other prohibited conduct by a fellow officer.
