Abstract
Two sprinklered fire test programs were conducted to compare the performance of com mercially available standard spray and quick response sprinklers in a wet pipe system for two different industrial fire protection challenges. One scenario simulated a storage occu pancy, and the second scenario simulated a solid pile storage occupancy.
Based upon the results of these tests, it appears that quick response sprinklers can be used for the two occupancies investigated without significant concern regarding the possi bility of undesired sprinkler actuations. The results indicate that if the sprinkler protection system has been properly designed for use with standard spray sprinklers, the substitu tion of quick response sprinklers will not compromise the existing level of protection.
