This paper sets out a process for the elective closure of a clinical practice. The details are described for a particular example of a practice closure. The common elements to all practice closures are identified. A range of other factors which may be relevant to other practice closure circumstances are also listed and the literature is referenced.
Conclusions:
The closure of a clinical practice is a major stage in professional life and merits preparation, support and accessible resources.
