Abstract
The changing world of work requires new models of career management. The old concept of “jobs” is disappearing, and the “glass ceiling” (a perceived invisible barrier to promotion) is still very real for corporate women in 1999. In addition, companies are in transition mode, undergoing rightsizing and placing greater emphasis on cost controls, efficiency and productivity. Change is the only constant in our world of work. Consequently, careers need to be fluid and varied throughout an adult's entire lifecycle. Is it any wonder that women are seeking more control and satisfaction in their career path?
