Abstract
At present some 7000 jobs are available for young Australians in the Australian Defence Force. As a part of recruiting strategies the Defence Force Recruiting Branch regularly examines the issues and concerns on which 17–24 year olds base their career decisions. This case study describes the key findings of recent research undertaken by two different consultants on the perceptions of young Australians towards schooling, careers and employment, and identifies the factors affecting their choice of a career in the Australian Defence Force.
Based on a paper presented at the Australian Association of Career Counsellors Conference, April 1995.
